Why is being an agnostic/atheist seen as a problem?

Hi,

What is your attitude towards agnostic/atheist Somalis? I've been implicitly warned that my irreligiosity could be offensive to some people in the Somali community. I took the advice with a sense of surprise, but upon reckoning I latter found the whole prospect intriguing. Why should someone offended by my religious standpoint on the account that we are of the same ethnicity and thus should have the same religious beliefs?

I should say I'm really looking for answers that are as honest as possible. If you have problems with the atheism/agnosticism of someone Somali, then say it and state the reason.
